Life Skills

This week in Life Skills we have continued talking about banking.  The students are familiar with what an overdraft fee is, different kinds of accounts, and some basic things to look for when finding a bank.  We are starting our bank comparison today. They will be responsible for comparing two different banks based on a sheet of criteria and will present to the class which bank they chose and why.

Math-

This week we have continued talking about customary and metric units of measurement.  The kids made "Gallon man" and have been working on converting metric and customary units.

Math

We are just starting chapter 9 in math.  In this chapter we will cover customary and metric units of measurements.  Tomorrow we will be estimating items around the classroom.

Study Skills

We have discussed tips for note taking.  They were surprised to hear how little changes, like color coding with highlighters can really help them remember facts.

Life Skills

In Life Skills we have learned how to write a check, deposit a check, and endorse a check.  We had Mr. Williams (husband to our very own Mrs. Williams) volunteer time out of his busy schedule, come talk to us about different types of banking accounts.  We have done a resume and have even done mock interviews.

Study Skills

In Study Skills we  are getting ready to start our unit on "Developing Good Study Habits". We will be discussing what conditions make it hard to concentrate, and how to fix it.  We will talk about tips on concentration as well as track where our time goes throughout the week. Tracking time will help student to see where their time is going, and where more time needs to spent.
